Bringing the world of STEM and robotics to special education students is now a reality at 91探花视频. We are excited to be one of the only programs in the FIRST Mid-Atlantic Robotics Competition for students solely with special education needs. Our team, 鈥淧ATH to Domination,鈥 will compete against other high schools with neurotypical students, giving our students the unique opportunity to lead the way for other special education students who want to chase their dreams in a historically defined neurotypical environment.

The team was formed by STEM Coordinator, Mr. Quijas, along with Instructional Coordinator, Ms. Green, and STEM Technical Coach, Mr. Berdis. The team consists of 25 students and will compete against local high schools this season. Their competition schedule kicks off at the District Springside Chestnut Hill Academy Event from March 17-19.

鈥淭he creation of the Robotics team is a great way for our students to have the opportunity to take part in a STEM-related and team building event that other special education students might not have access to,鈥 Mr. Quijas said. 鈥淭he robotics team enables students to learn machine skills in high school, and this will help them prepare for a career in this field and set them up for success in the future.鈥

The students involved in the club, including Upper School students Eli and MiHir, are excited to have this new opportunity at 91探花视频 to further develop their passion for STEM and robotics.

鈥淚 love working in a team environment and seeing others become confident throughout the season,鈥 Eli said. 鈥淢y main goals of the season are to get to the Championship competition and meet more people at competitions.鈥 MiHir added to Eli鈥檚 excitement for the robotics team and said, 鈥淚 like the team building activities we get to do, and I am excited to start competing this year.鈥
